February 11, 2020

Whether you’ve been together for over 40 years, have a big family and struggle to find time for each other or if you’re looking for inspiration on your next venture as a couple, you’ve come to the right place.

From the coastlines of Italy, to Thailand’s islands to the incredible landscapes in Scotland, there are plenty of places that’ll woo your partner. Here’s our guide to the best destinations that’ll help keep your romance alive.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Picture-perfect colourful buildings, endless mountains and clear waters come to mind when we think of the Amalfi Coast in Italy. It goes without saying that it’s one of the most romantic locations you can find. With Italian charm wherever you look, fresh cuisine and views for days, there is plenty to explore with your other half.

The Amalfi Coast is for those couples who love a combination of relaxation, water activities and experiencing the slower pace of life whilst venturing around its charming towns. From hopping on a traditional wooden gozzo along the bay to lunching on the beach and dancing the night away with a glass of vino or two in hand. The Amalfi Coast oozes romance and when you leave, you’ll take away a little bit of Italy with you in your heart.

St Lucia, Caribbean

The Caribbean is a must for any romantic trip. With year-round sunshine, wherever you go in the year is guaranteed to not only be hot but the perfect location to relax, lap up the sun, and share some cocktails by the beach. St Lucia, in particular, is one of the Caribbean’s top islands and offers a natural appeal with its rainforests, hidden waterfalls, phenomenal beaches and mountain views that’ll take your breath away.

Get your swimsuit and sun lotion ready for St Lucia’s activities. Whether you’re chilling on the beach, making trips down to local waterfalls or exploring the depths of the ocean, St Lucia offers tranquility and something for every couple.

Koh Lanta, Thailand

Thailand is renowned for its island scene, where you’ll either find the wannabe backpackers venturing around or the couples, lapping up the sunshine and enjoying everything the islands have in store. Koh Lanta is something out of a postcard – you’ll have to pinch yourself to make sure you’re not dreaming! The beaches last for miles with the softest sands and water that is like a bath.

Koh Lanta isn’t the biggest island, so whilst on your romantic break, you can spend some time venturing around. If you hire a motorbike, you’ll be able to ride around the island exploring the quaint old town, the local villages, rainforests and uncover the vacant beaches. It’s a location that’ll allow some privacy, relaxation and incredible food. You can’t beat smoothies and noodles by day and cocktails at the beach bar by night.

New York, USA

The ‘Big Apple’ is on a lot of people’s bucket lists for many reasons, and seeing it as a couple offers a different approach. From hitting Broadway, shopping along 5th Avenue, visiting the Rockefeller Center to strolling around the gorgeous Central Park – there’s something for every couple seeking the city buzz.

New York is also a huge hub for foodies with quirky cafes and restaurants on every corner. It’s a city you can visit all year round, but in winter there’s more room for romance. Imagine ice skating by the Rockefeller Center or taking a horse and carriage ride in Central Park as you cuddle up in your hats and scarves.

Venice, Italy

The canal capital of Italy adds an extra slice of romance to every trip for couples. The Italian culture is already one filled with romance when you think of the locals, the food, the sights and its overall appeal.

Venice is a unique destination that needs to be on your bucket list as a couple. The canals are only half of its romantic appeal. Whilst you’re sailing along on a gondola with your partner by your side, you can take in the surroundings of colourful buildings, the stunning Rialto Bridge, tucked away Italian eateries and the quieter streets of Venice.

By day, Venice is a haven for exploration and when you go off the beaten track, you can discover hidden walkways, traditional restaurants and quieter spots to appreciate each other’s company – and don’t forget all the gelato you can eat!

Dubai, UAE

For your dose of sunshine and a city break, Dubai is individual, to say the least. The city is built up with jaw-dropping skyscrapers, stretches of stunning beaches, shopping malls galore and plenty of attractions under the sun to get your teeth into.

It’s also a beautiful location for couples. As a luxury destination, there are plenty of 5-star hotels to stay, fancy restaurants and bottomless brunch locations – especially the Burj Al Arab, the world’s only 7-star hotel. Experience the luxurious way of life, lounge on the beaches, eat sumptuous food, head over to the desert and enjoy everything the city lights have to offer.

Edinburgh, Scotland

Scotland’s capital and a place with the country’s heart at the core, Edinburgh is packed full of character. The city is home to a medieval Old Town and lots of interesting attractions to feast your eyes on.

Edinburgh is a hub for quirky bars and restaurants, and plenty of cobbled streets to go on a romantic walk. Whether you’d love to climb to the top of the city are Arthur’s Seat, visit local monuments, go on a gin tour or simply enjoy a stroll around the Secret Gardens, this city has a whole host of romantic things to do in store.

Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva is a city with a difference, overlooking the Alps and home to the stunning Lake Geneva. The city has many surrounding stereotypes, however, it’s one of those cities that is unique in its own way. Renowned for the luxurious way of life, it’s also a place of diversity and creativity with quirky neighbourhoods scattered around.

The city has plenty of romantic activities you can dabble into and woo your other half with. From the renowned Lake Geneva, the architecture, museums to hiking spots; you’ll never run out of adventurous things to do together.

Mykonos, Greece

Island life couldn’t get better than in Mykonos. Whether you’re looking to sun it up and eat all the meze in sight with your other half or spend your evenings watching the sunset at the beach, Mykonos has it all. It’s not all just beach and sun, the tiny capital Hora is incredibly charming with its winding streets, white-washed buildings and shopping scene. The cobbled streets and Greek tavernas will win your heart over – just like your partner has!

If you’re interested in activities, there’s also a hub for swimming, mountain biking, diving and watersports.

Sa Pa, Vietnam

Visiting Vietnam is enough to make you learn to fall in love again. The culture, its locals and the food scene will bring you immense joy – and make you realise how simplicity is the most important thing to being happy.

Sa Pa is a small town, northwest of Vietnam and renowned for its trekking scene and endless green-hill landscape. It’s a beautiful location to appreciate being in open nature with your other half. Other than hiking through the phenomenal scenes of nature, the town is also home to quaint villages to explore, a national park, museums and modern cathedral. It’s not your typical romantic beach location, but one which will take you back to nature and appreciate the little things.
